Jeff Davis Parish- Ella Goodie has been missing since March 9, but family and law enforcement do not plan to stop searching. Earlier in the day, News15 received news that Louisiana state police were in Iowa, La searching for new evidence in the Goodie case.
Louisiana State Police have been searching near Interstate 10 in Jeff Davis Parish, looking for evidence revolving around the Ella Goodie case. One state trooper says they came out because these are the last known coordinates from a cell phone.
Trooper Derek Senegal with Louisiana State Police says for the entire day, search groups have been hitting the grounds South of I-10 near Iowa, LA. They hope new evidence could lead them to further information involving the Ella Goodie case. "We're doing a coordinated search of an area that approximately fifty square miles in a specific area within that larger area that we are searching for evidence."
Senegal tells NEWS15 this is the last known coordinates from a cell phone, which led search groups to spend the day searching the area. Though they haven't found any evidence, they plan to continue their search. "Before, it was just a few detectives and investigators searching certain areas. We had a lot of crews that covered a decent amount of ground today within those wooded areas, a lot of areas to cover."
He tells me they are bringing in more resources to further expand the investigation. "We will be out here and the rest of the agencies. We have state police, state police air support, and Calcasuei Parish, Sheriff Officer. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and also the class kid national organization."
Though Senegal is not in contact with the family, he wants them to know one thing, "We are all trying our best, trying to locate Ms. Ella Goodie for her family.
State Trooper Senegal tells me they'll be posted in the exact location but expanding their search to new areas. They will be on the grounds at 8 am to begin the search. The more people that come out and help, the more awareness about Goodie's disappearance will continue to circulate.
