Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival

Breaux Bridge, La- The Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival made a return starting today and running through Sunday. Families and friends showed up and ate some of the best crawfish Breaux Bridge had to offer.

There have been crowds of people out here since the doors first opened, excited about the return of the crawfish festival. Thousands of hungry people flock to Breaux Bridge to be part of the festivities, and they tell me the crawfish keeps them running back each year.

The Crawfish Festival began in 1960 and has continued to be a staple in the Breaux Bridge community. Being one of the largest gatherings of world-famous Cajun musicians.

Mayor of  Breaux Bridge, Ricky Calais says the community has been counting down the days until this moment." We probably couldn't appreciate how great it was going to feel until it actually happened. People have a lot of pent-up partying they want to get out. I think the weather is going to be great, so I think we are going to have great crowd."

Mejd Azzeh says this is her first time as a vendor for the Crawfish festival, and she can see herself returning for three reasons. "The music is great, the art, and different people have a lot of cool things that they hand made. So that's always fun to look at."

Food, music, and art were just a few activities festival-goers were able to choose from.

"The rides they are my favorite."

Lily Avanoff says rides are her favorite, but she loves when her family joins her. "Just hanging out with them and whatnot. My favorite ride it use to be called the Gravtron but now its called the area 62."

Mike Broussard says every crawfish festival gets better, which keeps him running back each year." The food is great, the music is even better, so its all good. Now they have a whole array of bands that play, and its all great music and fun."

The last day to attend the crawfish festival is Sunday, so come on out and enjoy some fantastic crawfish! Festival-goers can enjoy a Zydeco Dance Contest on the Festival Stage, followed by a Crawfish Eating Contest at the Breaux Bridge Tent. They are asking for the best crawfish lovers to come on out!
