Six new bullet proof vests will arrive this week for the Town of Washington and Grand Coteau Police Departments. Bob Giles, Giles Auto Chairman & Community Leader, joined News15 at Noon to share about the donation and why donations like this are so important to these smaller police departments.

Once again, the generous donation made by the Giles Automotive Group will significantly provide personal protection for officers in the line of duty. The Town of Washington and Grand Coteau Police Departments are just two of many local law enforcement departments to be given the life-saving gifts over the past few years.

Mr. Bob Giles, Giles Auto Chairman & community leader, along with his auto group, have donated over 120 bullet proof vests to law enforcement departments throughout Acadiana since 2016. The Town of Washington and Grand Coteau Police Department’s bullet proof vests will be presented at a Press Conference on Thursday, June 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Giles Nissan, 6137 Johnston Street in Lafayette.

Mr. Giles had this to say, “Police officers go out into the community day after day and put their lives in danger to keep our families safe. Being able to provide these local heroes, that are dedicated to protecting our communities, with the necessary personal protection equipment to face that danger in a safer way is an honor and a privilege.” He continued, “These officers faithfully perform their duties and serve the community, and I am so grateful for the brave work they perform.”

Giving back to the community is of the utmost importance to Mr. Giles and the Giles Automotive Group. Donating bullet proof vests to law enforcement officers across Acadiana is just one example of the many worthy causes in which Giles participates.

Giles has also partnered with Hunters for the Hungry to help feed families across Louisiana as well as providing funds to assist Dreams Come True of Louisiana, an organization dedicated to making dreams come true for children with terminal illnesses, and many other non-profits serving our communities.

Mr. Giles and the Giles Automotive Group are dedicated to giving back to the community, and they encourage the other business leaders and community members of Acadiana to give back as well.
