NEW ORLEANS (KADN) — New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston is close to signing a deal with the Cleveland Browns that would make him the backup to Deshaun Watson, ESPN reported, citing a source.
Winston has spent the last four seasons in New Orleans, starting 10 games for the Saints. He beat out Taysom Hill as the starter in 2021 after Drew Brees retired but suffered a torn ACL just seven games into the season.
ESPN added Winston is technically still under contract with the Saints because of a restructure deal he agreed to earlier in the year for salary cap purposes but will be released as a formality.
