LAFAYETTE, La. — The Lafayette Police Department’s Traffic Section is currently investigating a traffic crash on the 1300 block West University Avenue near the intersection of Versailles Boulevard. The crash occurred around noon.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle traveling southbound on the 1300 block West University Avenue, crossed the center line and both oncoming northbound lanes of travel, where the vehicle then struck a utility pole. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn.
The driver of the vehicle was subsequently transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries and is listed in stable condition.
West University Avenue was closed from Versailles Boulevard to West Congress Street. Police reported the roadway fully reopened and traffic flowing normally just before 3 p.m.
