DENVER (KADN) - The New Orleans Pelicans are in Denver to face the NBA champion Nuggets. Fans in Lafayette can watch the game on KADN FOX 15.

The Pelicans carry momentum into the contest, having won six out of their last seven games. Speaking of momentum, the Pels have notched an 11-4 record in the month of December.

It seemed the NBA In-Season Tournament loss to the Lakers is where the they turned the corner. Los Angeles walloped them by 40 points in early December. Since then, they haven't lost a road game yet.

"Some times you need to go through that," said shooting guard CJ McCollum on the loss to the Lakers. "It's unfortunate at that stage at that moment. There are so many games that can affect you in a season and I think affected us in a positive way. Like what we need to improve on, what need to do to get better. How do we make sure this doesn't happen again for us? And since that game, we have won a lot of games. Our defense has improved dramatically. We are a top 15 team. Our execution has gotten a lot better in those lapses that we have had."

The Pels got their revenge on the Lakers beating them by 20 points the next time they played. They are going to need that mindset when the Nuggets show up.

These two teams have faced each twice already. Denver won its game at home while the Pelicans won the most recent in New Orleans.

This is the last matchup between these two teams in the regular season, which is big because of the implications it will have as the postseason gets closer.
