Acadia Parish deputies find heroin laced with fentanyl after police chase; pair arrested

Deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office reported finding $30,000 worth of heroin laced with deadly fentanyl and weapons after a police chase on Thursday, Feb. 29.

CROWLEY, La. (KADN) — A police chase that started in Calcasieu Parish and ended in Crowley resulted in two arrests on drugs and weapons charges.

Deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office said they found $30,000 worth of heroin laced with deadly fentanyl and weapons.

Sheriff KP Gibson said two out-of-towners were arrested. He added the pair planned to deal the drugs out of a local hotel.

The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office reported Daniel Smith, 41, of Vidalia, and Lindsey Touchet, 40, of Lake Arthur were taken into custody.

Smith was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl (2 counts), possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting an officer, and obstruction of justice. His bond is set at $300,000.

Touchet was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl (2 counts), possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, resisting an officer, and obstruction of justice. Her bond is set at $235,000.
