LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) — On the second day of the season-opening series for the baseball Cajuns, Louisiana again took on Wright State at Tigue Moore, the women's basketball team hosted Arkansas State, and the men's basketball team was on the road against Appalachian State.
On the diamond, it was a chilly day at the Tigue. Pinch-hitter Boston Smith blasted a solo home run in the eighth inning to break a 6-6 tie and Wright State held on to get the 7-6 win over the Cajuns.

With conference winding down for both basketball teams, the ladies had to keep up the winning if they wanted better placement in the conference tournament. They took down Arkansas State, 59-46.

The guys were facing App State, the number one team in the Sun Belt. The Cajuns fell 85-73 to the Mountaineers. Louisiana drops to (17-10 overall, 9-5 Sun Belt).
