Ragin Cajun fans gather for UL men's basketball team game

Lafayette,La(KADN)- "I hope we blow them out of the water," smiles Gabe Oaks.

That's exactly what the University of Louisiana at Lafayette men's basketball team sought to do against South Alabama.

Ragin Cajuns fans were ecstatic ahead of this title game as many remember the loss against Georgia Southern last year in the championship game.

Fans say the blowout rematch earlier in this year's tournament was truly one they enjoyed. This year, fans say they noticed so much growth in the team.

"They've gone through their highs and lows in the past but this team, but this team always has their head on straight," says Trevor Smith.

"It's been a great season overall with team chemistry, watching them grow that bond and really playing for each other and loving each other. You tell it's obvious," says Oaks.

Why so confident?

Smith says he has seen improvement in several players. "Dalcourt has come a long way in his shooting he is either on or off but he has been on recently. Hopefully, that keeps going. Of course Jordan Brown everybody roots for him, he'll do really well."

Win or lose, Oaks says this year has been a great one to watch and will continue rooting for the Cajuns no matter the final score. "This exciting basketball season that we are having really has been awesome to watch. To see them as the year has gone on and really see them grow as a team."

As far as who they play next, the NCAA plans to release the schedule Sunday.
