Louisiana lawmakers advance bills related to execution, age for teens to be tried as adults

BATON ROUGE, La. (KADN) — On the third day of the special legislative session on crime at the Louisiana State Capitol, lawmakers advanced a pair of bills out of committee.

One bill would allow for new methods of execution. That includes using nitrogen gas and bringing back electrocution as a means to execute people.

The other bill advanced lowers the age teens can be tried as adults from 18 to 17.

Lawmakers also continue to discuss allowing the concealed carry of guns without a permit.

And, they're considering making significant restrictions in parole eligibility.
