Lafayette, LA- Crashes aren't just limited to the interstates and major highways. They happen a lot closer to where you frequent as well. NEWS15 Ashley Hamilton tells us about the total number of crashes just today, and it may just shock you.
Jeff, before 4 pm seven-car incidents occurred within forty-five minutes, raising the question of how drivers should always be cautious and understand what can be done to prevent a crash.
"Lafayette traffic has gotten bad, I don't know what or why."
With seven car accidents happening, one being a Lafayette Parish school bus on Ambassador Caffery.
Lafayette resident Lawrence Thompson says traffic is one thing, but a car incident traffic is different, remembering sitting for about thirty minutes due to a crash. "Accidents will happen because sometimes people drive and they not paying attention, and next thing you know, we are on each other car."
One man I spoke to says many that hit others don't think about the toll it takes on drivers going forward. "Calling the ambulance or law enforcement, attorneys. People do work and have to get back and forth to, for be it, those that don't have auto insurance. That's a huge loss for them."
He says nowadays you have to drive for yourself and also other drivers. "It's not me that's driving. I need to be careful what I do when I'm coming out driving, paying attention to the people around me."
Another resident was shocked to hear about the number of accidents stating the need for people to be careful anytime they get in the car. "I'm sure it's because people are not paying attention to what's going on. I see a lot of people texting and driving. You know you got to pay attention to them because if you don't pay attention to them, it's like you multiply vehicles at one time."
