For months Kyle Portier says he's reached out to the Pinhook South Apartments management company about leaks throughout the apartment.
Lafayette, La (KADN) -Â For months Kyle Potier says he's reached out to the Pinhook South Apartments management company about leaks throughout the apartment.
Those leaks now are a caved roof.
"It leaks all day and all night constantly," says Kyle Potier.
Potier says his calls went unanswered, and he even tried bringing his issues to the company in person. "You call, they don't answer the phone, you go, the door is locked, and somebody is actually sitting in the office. They were walking through the complex, and I stopped her and mentioned it to her. I haven't heard from anyone and like a month.
With the ceiling caved right across from his living air, water could be seen dripping from the open roof as Portier said it began messing with his health.
"Really bad, like I have trouble breathing sometimes. You know I try not to stay in here as much. I try to go out and get fresh air because of the situation," says Portier.
Though he is facing eviction, he has the money but doesn't want to pay until the problems are fixed, saying management has never held up their end of the bargain.
"I haven't seen an exterminator, man. I haven't seen a Maintenance man not one time since I've been living here. They got pests all around. That's in the contract. They are supposed to uphold that," says Potier.
NEWS15 reached out to Pinhook South Apartments and management for a statement, but they have not responded.
Potier is moving from the apartment but is planning to sue the apartment complex for the unlivable conditions that he faced while in the apartment.
