St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office Investigating Threatening Message written On Wall at Northwest High

Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz says the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's office is investigating a threatening message that was written on the wall at Northwest High School.

Due to the threat that was made for this Friday,  deputies will be at Northwest with metal detectors in the morning to wand all students. The principals and staff will search the students.

After the students are in class, deputies will conduct walk throughs throughout the day. "Our SRO will remain at Northwest the entire day. The safety of our kids is our main concern" says Guidroz.

Additionally, rumors surfaced that on November 17, 2021, a power outage at the school which caused an early dismissal was related.

The breaker box was supposedly lit on fire intentionally but was investigated by electricians with the school board and SLEMCO and found to be false. The cause of the power outage was an unground wire and is being repaired.
