Baton Rouge man arrested for possession of about $58K worth of marijuana

The Opelousas Police Department reported 5.8 pounds of high grade marijuana worth about $58,000 was found inside a vehicle during a traffic stop on March 22, 2022.

OPELOUSAS, LA — Narcotics detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Interstate 49 in the Opelousas area on March 14, 2022. Detectives spoke with the driver.

During the traffic stop, K-9 “Chaos” with the Opelousas Police Department gave a response for the odor of illegal narcotics and a search of the vehicle was conducted.

Police said 5.8 pounds of high grade marijuana was located inside the vehicle. The street value is estimated at about $58,000.

He was booked into the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Jail for possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I CDS (marijuana) and other traffic charges.
