NEW IBERIA, La. — On June 21, 2023, the New Iberia Police Department responded to the 1100 block of Audrey Street in reference to a person found dead inside a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers located 19-year-old William High inside a vehicle behind an abandoned apartment. Detectives responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. During the investigation, detectives identified a suspect and obtained arrest warrants.
On the morning of January 10, 2024, 19-year-old Kenneth Ray Thomas, III, was arrested. Thomas was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on the charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons.
Louisiana State Police Fugitive Task Force and Criminal Intelligence Unit, along with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, assisted with the apprehension.
New Iberia Police say they received a call at about 9:15 a.m of a report of a dead man found in a vehicle near an abandoned apartment complex.
In New Iberia, violence has become a nagging issue for the residents. The community of new iberia is mourning the loss of one person found dead and another being shot all in one day.
