Ville Platte Police Responded To A Man Being Stabbed In the 300 block of North Thompson Street; Suspect Arrested

Ville Platte, La - Officers with the Ville Platte Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of North Thompson Street in reference to a man being stabbed on August 2, 2021 at approximately 10:33 p.m.

Upon arrival Officers spoke with amale who stated that he was in the ball park in the area and was stabbed from behind. The victim stated that the suspect was still near the ball park.

Acadian Ambulance arrived on scene and began to provide medical assistance to the victim and Officers returned to the ball park to attempt to locate the suspect. Officers found the suspect in the ballpark with a female, he refused to release her.

Officers issued multiple verbal commands and were able to safely remove the female from the situation. Officers also located a box cutter near the suspect as they placed him under arrest.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect complained of chest pain and was provided medical attention by Med Express Ambulance Service.

The male victim with the stab wound was transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center with injuries to the torso area.

Jermaine Larnette, age 43, Ville Platte (listed as homeless) was arrested. Larnette was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail on 1 count of attempted second degree murder and one count of false imprisonment. Larnette remains incarcerated on a $300,000.00 bond.
